Some inventory apps sync in real time: you sell on your phone, and the count updates everywhere instantly. Others run "batch" syncs: your phone might not show the latest numbers until the next upload, which could be hours later.
For a single shop with one device, batch might be okay. As soon as you have two people (or two devices) updating stock or creating invoices, real time matters. Otherwise you'll sell the same item twice or think you're out of stock when you're not. Real-time sync keeps one source of truth so everyone sees the same numbers.
When you're choosing software, ask: "If I sell something on my phone right now, when does it show on my laptop?" If the answer is "after the next sync" or "in a few minutes," understand what that means for your workflow. For most small businesses that move fast, real time is worth it.
